The name’s Joe Woodsmith. I’m an odd-job man. I’ve been doing some work around the manor recently, which is why Mr Gifts invited me here tonight. I think he felt sorry for me because I said I didn’t have anywhere to go for Christmas. I’ve just been kicked out of my flat, as the landlady wants to turn it into an inn. Everyone says how Mr Gifts was a bit of a Scrooge, but he was always kind to me, though he never let me near his office.
