Roberta had a happy and fulfilling childhood, at least she thought she did until she realised she was a duplicant (aka cyborg, robot) and all those memories had been planted. Because of that, she didn’t expect to be able to emote love but that’s exactly what happened when she ran into Dick Dekker. Nowadays Dekker and Roberta are constantly on the run, trying to avoid Knife Sprinters (duplicant hunters) at all costs.
INTRODUCE YOURSELF AT THE START OF THE GAME BY READING THIS
I’m Roberta, a flawlessly designed fourth generation duplicant. Many of you will consider me to be just a robot, but I’ve only recently discovered I wasn’t human. I thought everyone had vacuum cleaners in their feet. I’m on the run with Captain Dekker, he’s a former Knife Sprinter who would normally track down people like me, but we fell in love. Dekker said Snotty may know how to remove my kill switch - that’s a trigger that trips when I turn thirty, shutting me down forever. Unfortunately I didn’t get to talk to Snotty before he was killed, so we’re still looking for a cure.
